ROLL over Cinderella and tell Sleeping Beauty the news, York has a new and most unlikely pantomime in town.
For one dark night only, Derbyshire travelling troupe Oddsocks Productions present Macbeth The Panto at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre on Monday.
Shakespeare's tragic Scottish Play becomes the Scottish Pantomime as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth invite you to share a slice of haggis at their dysfunctional Hogmanay celebrations at 7.30pm.
"Just make sure that you are abed before the bells toll or you'll be party to murder, mayhem, magic and horror, horror, horror," they warn.
All the big questions will be posed: "Is this a haggis I see before me?" asks Macbeth. "Will these hands ever come clean?" demands hygiene-obsessed Lady Macbeth.
Tickets for this fierce farce for all the family are on sale on 01773 540 962 or on the door. Kilts optional, absurd sense of humour a must.
