IN response to the question posed by AP Cox ('Cyclists flout mobile law too' December 6), the number of fixed penalty notices handed out to cyclists for using mobile phones while riding must be zero because there is no such offence.
The recent law was worded so as to apply to drivers of motor vehicles only. The existing laws on careless riding were deemed adequate for cyclists. AP Cox should check his facts before castigating the police for failing to enforce laws which do not exist.
