LINDA Pollard, chairman of the York-based Learning and Skills Council (LSC) North Yorkshire, has collected her OBE from Buckingham Palace.
Linda, who was in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for her services to the community in Bradford, has an impressive public sector portfolio, covering education and health.
In addition to her role at the LSC North Yorkshire, she is chairman of West Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority, was a magistrate for 23 years, and is an associate member of the General Medical Council, the Crown representative to the University of Leeds, and sits on several private sector boards and charities.
David Harbourne, executive director of the LSC North Yorkshire, said: "This honour is greatly deserved. Throughout her career, Linda has consistently demonstrated an unfailingly commitment to the regeneration of this region and to improving the quality of lives in its many communities.
"Her unfailing commitment to learning shines through and is an inspiration to our work."
