ASDA has confirmed that a free bus to its store at Monks Cross is to continue.
The Evening Press reported how pensioners from villages across the York area were worried they would lose the service, upon which they relied.
Numerous readers had contacted the paper to say their driver had told them the service was being scrapped. Customers have also contacted the store to complain.
The store said on Monday that while the service would no longer be provided by the existing bus company, Asda was in negotiation with another company and hoped it would be able to provide the service instead.
An Asda spokeswoman has now contacted the Evening Press to confirm that the service would continue with the new bus company, with a seamless transition for customers.
