ON behalf of the York branch I thank all our supporters and volunteers who gave their time so unstintingly during 2004 to enable the Alzheimer's Society to support those with dementia, and their carers, in the area.
We owe a tremendous debt to all our volunteers who work as befrienders, committee members, fundraisers or in our office.
As always, we are very grateful to the people who contributed to three collections in the city centre and Acomb, which raised £1,878 this year.
With this year being the society's 25th anniversary and York branch's 18th "coming of age" celebratory year, there were many other eventsincluding a successful anniversary service and candle-lit vigil in York Minster; a gala evening and wine tasting at Bishopthorpe Palace and a barbecue at The Deramore Arms in Heslington. In all, £5,225 was raised
A special thank you is due to Jack and Mel Merry, who allow us to use The Tap & Spile and Golden Fleece as venues; Dave and Sally at The Minster Inn, Marygate and Jackie Doran, manager of The Deramore Arms, Heslington.
Our barbecue there in July was magnificent, and we are having our Christmas Pub Quiz there next Tuesday at 8.30pm. You are all welcome to join us. Thank you all and happy Christmas.
