KETTERING Town were left counting the costs of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Harrogate Town in more ways than one.
Not only did Kettering lose to one of their Conference North promotion rivals at Wetherby Road but they also had Barry Hateley controversially sent off and the red-carded goalkeeper then smashed in the visitors' changing-room door.
It is estimated that Hateley's moment of madness will cost the Midlands club £150 and manager Kevin Wilson has already agreed to pay for the damage.
Harrogate boss John Reed said: "Their goalkeeper smashed in the door after getting sent off and you have to report these incidents to the referee who, in turn, notifies the FA. A new door will definitely have to be put on because there's a 12-inch hole in it.
"Our security manager was there and Kevin Wilson said that if we send them a bill they will pay for it."
