COPMANTHORPE led the way on a day of 'firsts' in Leeper Hare York and District League.

The premier division's bottom team scored their first league win of the season with a 2-0 victory at home to Haxby thanks to two first half goals.

Mark Bellah rounded the 'keeper for the opener and Ian Charlton lopped the ball over the 'keeper from outside the area for the second.

Pocklington recorded their first win in 11 games as they beat Thorpe 1-0 at home with a Stuart Barker goal after 62 minutes.

Another goalkeeper to earn the plaudits of his manager was Wigginton's Craig Gammage, who brilliantly saved a first half penalty at Old Malton but the home side won with two second half goals.

Heath Brown, with his sixth goal of the season, put the Malton side in front and Neil Wilford wrapped up the points in injury time.

Dringhouses moved back to the top of the table but were given a fright at home to a Dunnington side yet to win away.

Nestl Rowntree inflicted New Earswick's second successive defeat with goals from Luke Bilham, Steve Fratson and Matt White. New Earswick could only reply with a Paul Stimpson penalty.

Stamford Bridge have a 100 per cent home record after they beat Norwich Union 4-1.

The visitors took the lead through Roger Osbourne but Nick Rank, with his sixth goal of the season, levelled the scores and Stamford Bridge went on to win with two goals from Sam Brown and one from Martin Smith jnr.
