I OFFER our sincere thanks to the people of York for their generosity to Hebden Bridge Junior Band.
On a busy but bitterly cold day on Saturday, November 27 the 30-strong band of young musicians played for around three-and-a-half hours in St Mary's Square in the Coppergate Centre.
We had lots of appreciative comments from local people and visitors about the band.
This also extended to the stallholders in the Taste Of Yorkshire market who were equally welcoming.
Not only was the hospitality excellent, but we also raised more than £1,000 for band funds.
The band plans to be back in York next May.
One local man described the band as a credit to us.
Well, the people we met on Saturday were a credit to York!
