I MUST respond to your article about the proposed rising bollard in Straylands Grove.
Why does Peter Evely and his colleagues regard every road that is not a main thoroughfare into York as a "rat run"?
Their latest madcap scheme to add Straylands Grove to the endless list of blocked roads will surely cause not only major traffic problems but pollution from exhaust fumes at the Heworth Green roundabout from both Stockton Lane and the already-congested Malton Road.
It would not surprise me if Mr Evely's next act of lunacy was to declare the Bridlington to York road a "rat run" and make all traffic come in on the Hull Road.
In these times when people are concerned with pollution (Mr Evely apart) would it not be wiser to open roads and have York traffic free-flowing once again?
