THE New Road Safety Bill does not go far enough (Too many die on our roads, December 1). I agree with the use of mobiles being banned when driving.
But what about smoking while driving? A motorist holding the wheel with a cigarette between his fingers at the same time cannot be in complete control of the vehicle.
If he drops it on himself or somewhere in the car he will have to pull up to find it. What next? A shunt? There is a real risk of injury.
Worth some thought?
