Selby lost 24-10 at Yarnbury in Yorkshire One on Saturday seven weeks to the day after beating them 47-14 in the Intermediate Cup at Sandhill Lane.

Selby have taken only one point from their last four league games.

Yarnbury were the more committed side while Selby were well below par.

Selby captain and prop Andrew Pocklington had to withdraw and was replaced by veteran Ian Copperwheat.

Selby took the lead in the 12th minute with an unconverted try by scrum-half Mathew Smith.

In the 33rd minute Yarnbury's Steve Galbraith kicked a penalty when Selby were caught offside in front of their posts.

Selby second row forward Jason Cicero had to leave the field with a leg injury and was replaced by Mark Rollinson.

In the 39th minute Yarnbury No 8 Ian Moule went over for a try converted by Galbraith to put them 10-5 up at the interval.

Yarnbury captain and flanker Gareth Jones went over for a try in the 44th minute and he kicked the conversion.

A double substitution in the 52nd minute by Selby, with Paul Scott replacing Toby Pemberton and Mark Tomlinson taking over at prop for Copperwheat, failed to stem the flow.

Yarnbury centre Tim Horner went over for a try in the corner two minutes later, Galbraith converting.

In the 64th minute Shaun Austerfield beat three tacklers to score an unconverted try for Selby.

Yarnbury No 8 Ian Moule was shown the yellow card in the 71st minute for persistently going in from the side.
