I AM writing to thank Selby Council for saving council tax money by not gritting the roads in Barlby on Tuesday November 30.
Due to its wise frugality at 4.45am on my way to work, I had the misfortune to come off my bike on the untreated icy York road.
Due to the conditions I was only going steadily. I sustained a badly broken finger, and damage to my motorcycle.
As a chef this means I will not be able to work for a period of time. This will cause hardship over Christmas, not only for me, but for the people I work for.
I wonder how many more citizens of Selby are in the same position. It isn't as if the council hadn't had any warning about the frosty weather.
So thanks again Selby Council for making my Christmas.
Graham Pugh,
Lowfield Road,
Barlby,
Selby.
