I write in support of Janet S Kitchen's letter regarding the ridiculous rising bollard proposed for Woodlands Grove.
I would like to add a personal point of view as a person living in the Monks Cross area and having parents and family in the Stockton Lane area.
Will any enhancement be made to the junction at Hopgrove Lane and Malton Road to cope with the additional traffic that will need to find an alternative route?
When travelling from Stockton Lane through Hopgrove Lane, leading out onto Malton Road and requiring to turn left at any time of the day or night, there is invariably someone waiting to turn right into an ever flowing stream of traffic towards Hopgrove roundabout. This can take some time.
The joke is that, despite many accidents at this notoriously bad junction, the enormous grass verge has not been reduced to allow for a filter lane if turning left - surely an inexpensive and fast not to mention effective solution?
Do we want traffic to flow in York or is it just a council scam to get all traffic gridlocked in the hope that we might in desperation use some of the inadequate public transport on offer?
I pass through Woodlands Grove frequently (sorry to all residents there but I am not sure why you think you have the right to a private road when there are hundreds of others in York in a far worse state) but this is necessary to keep in contact with my family. You are the obstacle between us, now to replaced by a bollard!
Please residents of Hopgrove Lane don't go the same way or I might just need to purchase a helicopter!
