NEW Earswick All Blacks will look to kill games off better from now on in the wake of last week's late agony against Newsome Panthers.
The All Blacks led 22-8 with 12 minutes left but lost 25-22, and training this week has concentrated on doing the basics at potential pressure times.
Player-coach Simon Baynes said: "They scored to come back to 22-14 and instead of killing the game we started spreading it out and when the ball was lost, this guy picked up and ran 80 yards to the line. We chucked the game away.
"We've been working on completing sets and killing the game when we're in a winning position. It's happened a couple of times when we've tried to be too flamboyant at the wrong times."
All Blacks will have to do well to get into a winning position on Saturday as they visit Siddal in the Pennine League's President's Cup round two.
The competition involves the teams in the top three divisions and, while All Blacks still head division two, their hosts lie mid-table in the premier.
The York side will give late tests to Jim Mulroney (neck) though back are Steve Perks, who is hoping for a first run-out since returning from Australia, Dave Calam and Rowan Wallace-Hills. Jamie Rhodes (back) and Dave Carling (groin) are out.
York Acorn 'A' head Pennine League division four and will expect to see off Slaithwaite Saracens. Heworth 'A' have a tricky trip to Sharlston 'A' in Yorkshire League division three.
