We were very concerned to read of the Robinson family's stressful experiences during the decontamination work at Heworth Green (Evening Press, November 24).
As parents of young children ourselves, we know how desperate Alastair and Caroline must have felt to resort to sleeping in a lay-by. Feeling forced to rent a second property for the sake of their children's health can only have added to the pressure on them.
There appears to have been minimal publication of the consultants' checks on the on-going clearance work at Heworth Green and assessment of pollutants found.
We hope that York council will be more supportive of the Robinsons and their neighbours.
It would be reassuring to soon read that safeguards have been put in place before any further decontamination work, that adequate and transparent monitoring is adhered to and that residents feel that City of York Council is putting their safety first.
