AN award-winning garden built by York-based Shepherd Construction is now ready.
The extensively landscaped Central Vista garden project at the prestigious new Greenquarter development in central Manchester has already received a silver award for "Best Communal Garden in a Non Retirement Development" in the New Homes Garden Awards 2004.
The Central Vista incorporates trees specially imported from Germany, together with 10,000 evergreen and deciduous shrubs. The main focal point of the development is the large water feature which covers an area of 500 square metres and incorporates 10 jet fountains.
The gardens provide an oasis-like setting for residents in new apartments being built for Crosby Homes.
They are part of a £30million contract awarded to Shepherd to construct two ten-storey apartment blocks, Masson Place which will include 163 one and two bedroom apartments, and Barton Place - a second residential block comprising 164 apartments.
It is Shepherd's contribution to a £130 million scheme for Crosby Homes, a development that will completely regenerate the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester, becoming a landmark in its own right.
Shepherd is also building four other residential projects on behalf of Crosby Homes: Hedley House in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Southside in Birmingham, Clarence Dock in Leeds and Quay Street in Manchester.
