ONCE again I see the rising bollard is about to strike (November 23).

While I have much sympathy for residents in the area, I am incensed by this, and more so by Peter Evely praising such methods.

The council caused this problem in the first place by its actions creating the jams. I also note the use of humps (not to save lives - but to deter traffic): a slip of truth perhaps, Peter?

I hope the cost of £60,000 is not coming from our hard-earned taxes. But to add insult to injury, the charge to locals is £20 every three years.

Sorry folks, but you want it and you pay for it. Make that £20 a week!

If not then are we all not entitled to some form of restriction of traffic movement on our doorstep?

Life for residents in my area would be much enhanced if traffic were reduced. So come on Peter let's have a bollard on Tadcaster Road and keep the race traffic out!

I would be willing pay £20 every three years for that.
