I AM in total agreement with Simon Bell's letter (November 20). Mr Jeffrey's protest really annoyed me. Leeman Road was always associated with the railway industry and always will be, even though new residential properties have sprung up.
Jubilee Terrace has been there for as long as I can remember. My own father came to York from Darlington for work in 1924 and was employed at the locomotive sheds until he retired. We and many other railway employees lived on Leeman Road.
There were never any grumbles, they were only too thankful for employment.
People who come to live near railway property should expect the railway industry to be always there.
P Harrison,
Howe Hill Road, York.
