CHRIS Titley is not quite correct in saying that auditions for buskers started in Budapest. I believe the first people to do this were the pre-Livingstone London County Council after the old Covent Garden market was moved to the outskirts of London.
I think also that a pub in the re-modelled Covent Garden was the scene for a magnificent 'punch-up' between John Wayne and Richard Attenborough in the film Brannigan.
