The soul of the Lighthouse Family, Tunde Baiyewu finds a voice of his own on his debut solo album.
Featuring his first single Great Romantic, the album showcases 11 largely downbeat, melancholic, slow-paced tracks penned by Tunde in collaboration with Grant Lee Phillips, formerly of Grant Lee Buffalo, and Floetry collaborator Sebastian Rogers. Nigerian-born Tunde's unmistakable voice promises to delight Lighthouse Family fans with Letting Me Down Gently, featuring Catherine Feeny, and Anaesthetic, a personal song about grief, but overall the first five tracks are soothing yet nondescript. I Have Never Walked Alone refreshingly ups the pace, while the jazzy, upbeat Shouldn't Be Like stands out and Our History shows off Tunde's vocal range. If you haven't fallen asleep before bonus track Long Way Home, this lullaby should do the trick.
