THREE years on from Survivor, Destiny's Child release their sixth and, judging from the title, final studio album.

Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland have become stars in their own right, and, on the quiet, Michelle Williams has achieved recognition as a contemporary gospel artist. So expectations are high.

Yet after the furious rush of Lose My Breath, which evokes the excitement of Beyonce's Dangerous In Love project, the album takes a dive. What a shame. Destiny's Child boasts three great talents, yet they don't have the songs to back them up. Cater 2 U, T-Shirt and Soldier are colour-by-number R&B workouts.

Best-selling girl groups, such as The Supremes, The Three Degrees, Bananarama and even The Spice Girls, always used to have hits everyone knew and cherished. Sadly, apart from Lose My Breath nothing here is worth recalling. Destiny's Child do look great in videos, and, played loud, their slinky soul selections acquire urgency and attitude. But they need the volume to hide a lack of substance.
