KEVIN Blackwell has challenged Brian Deane to keep the goals flowing tonight after his four-goal salvo against Queens Park Rangers.
The Leeds manager has outlawed any 'after the Lord Mayor's Show' reaction from Saturday's 6-1 trouncing of Rangers when Watford arrive at Elland Road.
He believes 36-year-old Deane can carry on feasting on the improved service he is receiving since the arrival of David Healy and John Oster.
Blackwell said: "Brian needed a lift and his four goals have left him walking on air.
"The service to him has definitely improved since David and John came in and it is no coincidence that he has started scoring goals.
"I don't want Brian galloping down the wings. I want him to work that central area, using his power and height to bring other people into play.
"The better build-up allows him to get in good positions and I hope he keeps scoring four every week."
Blackwell added: "After scoring six, it is important that there is no arrogance or aloofness from the team.
"It is no good thinking people are going to come to Elland Road and we are going to roll them over.
"Watford have a good away record, they will be very difficult to break down. So we don't need people getting anxious if we're not winning by five or six at half-time."
After more talks with Crystal Palace, Blackwell was last night signing Shaun Derry initially on loan, with a view to completing a £250,000 deal within the next week. Derry won't be in tonight's starting line-up but may be on the bench.
"Shaun has experience of being at the top of this division with Portsmouth and Crystal Palace and he was desperate to come to Leeds. He is powerful in midfield, if there is a tackle to be won he will win it and he is no mug on the ball," said the Leeds manager.
