A YORK company which is holding its own as a successful brand development consultancy is vying for two accolades in this year's Evening Press Business of the Year awards.
Acute Marketing, in Clifford Street, was founded three years ago by managing consultant Nick Eggleton after he turned his back on the bright lights of London and Leeds to return to his home town.
Drawing on his past experience of working at some of the top advertising and design agencies, Nick launched his own brand of development consultancy.
"I recognised that businesses need sound intelligence and advice on which to plan future business and brand strategy. They also need skilful marketing support to exploit new markets to the full," he said.
"At Acute Marketing we make ideas make profit. When it comes to any business, ideas are what can make the difference between success and failure.
"We make businesses increase sales revenue and at the same time reduce their marketing costs because we use cost-effective, creative and common sense strategies."
The firm has national blue-chip clients on the cards from gift retailer Athena and Sanity Hygiene Services, to local businesses such as Cavendish Jewellery and Burn & Company solicitors.
Acute Marketing's experience is across a range of sectors including food, drink, communications, technology and retail.
