FEW printers publish prices. Instead they suggest to the public: Tell us what you want and we'll quote you.
That thought guided Tony Stanley when he set up Buyright Ltd, a printing brokerage in Acomb Wood Drive, Woodthorpe, York. He has published what he describes as an industry-leading rigid price guide, plus a web-based print quotation and ordering system.
Every possible combination of order and price is featured taking into account quality of paper, volume, size, colour and even nuances like curve-cornered business cards.
Now Buyright has franchised the concept to a design company in Nottingham and linked up with a number of other print and design businesses. Tony is now vying for two titles in the 2004 Evening Press Business Awards - New Business of the Year and Best Use of New Technology.
The idea of working out of his own York office came to him "after 15 years of sitting in traffic on the M62 at Leeds" as sales manager for print management company Access Plus. His wife, Lisa, a former nurse, joined him in the venture.
