IT is very admirable of Councillor Janet Looker to speak out about the relentless assault on the landscape of York which is fast becoming a concrete jungle of flats (November 13).
Beautiful buildings are being bulldozed, to be replaced by ghettos of the future, with no architectural merit whatsoever.
However, although many York people hold the same views as Janet Looker, I am afraid her comments will fall on deaf ears while there is money to be made by selling York's heritage.
We need a visionary in the planning department who is conversant with the word no before we lose everything which makes York unique.
Mrs W Carter,
Marston Crescent,
Acomb, York.
