Player-coach Simon Moat broke an ankle and leg as York Groves' derby duel at Selby Warriors turned to agony.
The Terriers had battled hard and took full advantage of some poor Selby play in the first half to deservedly lead 18-16 at the break.
However, Moat - who was being operated on yesterday - went off just before the interval and, with Groves having no substitutes to call on, his side tired with a man down and Pennine League division five leaders Selby found their form with six unanswered second-half tries.
Selby had opened the scoring when Sean Barker's break ended with Wayne Fennell diving over beside the posts. Then 16-year-old Chris O'Neill forced his way over to make it 10-0 before Groves hit back with a converted try.
John Broadhurst stretched Selby's lead before he went off with a mouth injury, but then Groves got the upper hand with two tries. Their try-scorers were Scott Raven, Chris Smith and Matt Corr, with Jason Dunn goaling all three and later adding a penalty.
Selby player-coach Andy Rowe made some changes in a bid to turn things round and brought Colin Barker into the attack, with almost instant results. Rowe and Barker scored two tries each as the York legs began to tire - the highlight being Rowe's 50-yard dash down the touchline to complete the scoring.
Byran Cooper also crossed with a kick-and-chase effort and second-row Ian Ramskill scored the other.
There was no try this week for Carl Bardauskas, who had touched down in all eight of Warriors' previous games this season, but he did have a hand in five of those scored and also landed a conversion after taking over kicking duties from the sin-binned Fennell.
Heworth 'A' gave a great account in defeat when losing 26-10 at Yorkshire League division three leaders Castleford Lock Lane 'A'.
The strong hosts bossed the first half with some fine handling and finishing to lead 20-0 at the break, though Heworth also had their chances but could not breech the defence.
The Villagers toughened up after the interval and were rewarded when strong running centre Shaun Strickland latched onto a shrewd Tony Fella kick to score.
Heworth's domination continued and, when skipper Sean Brough snatched the ball in a one-on-one tackle, he raced under the posts for Jamie Richardson's conversion to reduce the deficit to ten points, only for the hosts to seal the game with a late converted try.
Kevin Gott, Dave Varley and Pete Wreglesworth had big games in a battling Heworth performance.
Pennine League division four leaders York Acorn 'A' were given a 30-0 walkover against lowly Birkenshaw 'A'.
