IT is funny how perceptions change. Not so long ago, the idea of a £1 fee to park in York at night - £2 for visitors - would have caused a real stink.
Yet these new charges were welcomed by motorists last night.
The reason? This price is considerably cheaper than the charges originally introduced by City of York Council.
We hope the flat fee encourages some residents who boycotted the city's nightlife to return.
This new price also proves that York residents can band together to change an unpopular policy - in this case via our Stop The Highway Robbery campaign.
