YORK City striker Andy Bishop is expecting few tactical and coaching changes after the appointment of Viv Busby as caretaker boss.

Joint top scorer Bishop revealed that Busby and his predecessor Chris Brass share many views about football.

The 22-year-old striker said: "Viv's a great bloke and has brought a lot of enthusiasm to the club. From day one he has worked well with us and we've done a lot of finishing work but Viv and Chris Brass have exactly the same ideas and we have been doing exactly the same things in training."

Bishop has scored four goals in his last seven City matches to become the club's leading marksman, along with Darren Dunning, but he believes his form was better during the ten games he waited before finding the target for his new club.

He said: "I've scored more goals recently but, to be fair, I think I've had a dip in form and was playing better when I wasn't scoring. Hopefully now I can play better but the goals will keep coming."

Bishop also believes that City's chances of still salvaging a sorry season with a promotion push is not out of the question.

He admits the club's league position of 19th - fourth bottom - is disappointing but stresses that City are ten points adrift of the play-off frame, which is just one more than the Minstermen are currently clear of the relegation zone.

"We are in a low position but if you look at the points we are still not that far away from fifth place," he said. "It's a close league and we can still get a run going if we steer clear of injuries.

"With 16 players we have got a small squad and, if one or two get injured, we start to struggle. We have had key players like Steve Davis and Kevin Donovan injured and that has made it harder for the younger lads who have come in.

"Kevin's coming back but now Paul Robinson and Gary Pearson are injured. I was brought in to play with Paul but I think we've only been up front together twice.

"Saturday is a long trip and we will be travelling on the day but every team is near enough the same in this division. We need to start playing well and make teams fear us because if we get our game right, as we showed against Stevenage, we can play teams off the park."

City juniors entertain Doncaster Rovers in the Football Youth Alliance North East Conference at Wigginton Road tomorrow (11am kick-off).

Star Selley

YORK City will face a former Premiership player who won European Cup Winners Cup, League Championship and FA Cup medals by the age of 19 tomorrow.

Former Arsenal star Ian Selley, once a hot young prospect at Highbury under George Graham, now plies his trade in Woking's midfield and will lie in wait for the Minstermen.

Selley is part of a Woking team that will be bidding for their fourth successive home win after an FA Cup victory against Lymington and Conference triumphs over Burton Albion and Halifax Town.

The Cards have only lost to Forest Green and Aldershot in the league at Kingfield this season but have been beaten in their last two matches at Notts County and Crawley Town.

Jon Boardman will be suspended for tomorrow's game after being sent off during the 2-0 FA Cup defeat against County.
