JIM Collis's Tadcaster Albion will be looking to knock Garforth Town out of their Samba rhythm tomorrow in the Northern Counties East League division one match of the day.

The Brewers make the short trip to the West Yorkshire side where they are set to come face-to-face with former Brazil captain Socrates on his debut.

But despite the almost never-ending media hype, Collis is insisting his up-and-coming Tadcaster team will approach the game like any other - despite the best efforts of their money-bags opponents.

Garforth attempted to lure tenacious midfielder Dale Waddington away from the club after hearing about his aggressive character.

But the York-based youngster refused the offer after it emerged that the club knew little about him and failed to follow up the initial seven-day request in the usual manner.

Said Collis: "They put a seven-day request in then phoned to ask him if he was coming training and said they would speak to him when he got there. They didn't ask him what position he played or anything like that.

"That's not how you do things. I would only put in a seven day request if I had seen somebody play or had had a recommendation from a highly regarded source.

"A lot of people in football I have spoken to have said it is just a way of upsetting our rhythm at the club."

In an ironic twist, Waddington could end up playing for neither after picking up an injury last Saturday, and faces a fitness test later today.

About the match itself, Collis said: "We are looking forward to the game. At the moment, Garforth Town are definitely the form side.

"We've been playing in the cup, and Sutton have been playing in the cup while Garforth have been playing in the league and winning.

"They are getting points in the league and I have always said I would rather have points on the board than games in hand so we are playing catch-up.

"As far as I'm concerned, it's just another game and hopefully we can be successful. There will be no special preparations or anything like that. We are just going there hoping to put on a decent performance like last Saturday and hope that we can get the result."

Socrates is due to join former Manchester United and England star Lee Sharpe on the pitch for the match, who is set to return along with influential midfielder Jay Sobers according to the Garforth Town website.

Sharpe, 33, who won eight international caps, joined Garforth in September after being released by Bradford City.

Socrates, now 55, nicknamed 'The Doctor', won 60 caps and scored 22 goals for Brazil and was captain of the 1982 and 1986 World Cup teams.

He played in his homeland for Riberao Preto, Botafogo, Corinthians and in Italy with Fiorentina before returning to Brazil to play for Flamengo and Santos where he retired in 1990.
