WITHOUT wishing to bore your readers rigid with council procedure, I would like to point out that Coun Horton in his funny letter (November 16) spectacularly failed to answer the one question that needs answering.
Why did the Labour group not bother to table any questions for the last council meeting?
The Green Party did. The Lib Dems did. The Labour Party did not.
Nobody prevented them from tabling questions, the Lib Dems do not control who can and who cannot ask questions at council meetings.
Could it be that the Labour group members were more interested in attending a party that was going on that evening at the Mansion House? Could it be that they no longer have anything to say?
So the Lib Dems ask questions of the executive. So what? So do the Green Party and the Independent councillor. It seems the Labour Party no longer wish to hold the executive to account and no longer believes they have a positive contribution to make on the council.
Coun Christian Vassie,
Blake Court,
Wheldrake, York.
