A SPECIALIST York company is proving there is more to the business than just bricks and mortar.
York Brick Cutting Company, at Dauby Lane, Kexby, which shapes and bonds bricks together for unusually-angled building constructions such as conservatories, has achieved Investors In People accreditation, after receiving help and advice from Business Link York and North Yorkshire adviser Pat Black.
Business Link supports organisations through the process of achieving Investors In People status.
Celebrations for the brick firm come as the national standard, which sets a level of good practice for training and development of people to achieve business goals, celebrates its 13th anniversary this week.
Over the past three years, nearly 100 small to medium-sized businesses in York and North Yorkshire have achieved Investors in People with Business Lin''s help, from York cycling shop Cycle Heaven to engineering firm Omnicon, the 2003 Evening Press Business of the Year.
York Brick Cutting Company managing director Mike Barker was introduced to the Investors In People concept while attending one of Business Link's Fit For Business courses.
