FROM busker, to bright lights; local lad Alistair Griffin returned to his home turf to rock the people of York on a Grand Opera scale!
The second date in Griffin's mini-tour saw him wow the York audience with an intimate acoustic first half.
This gave Alistair the opportunity to enchant with his powerful, perfectly pitched voice.
Every word and note was delivered with clarity and passion.
I've lived, dedicated to his Grandma, perfectly illustrated why Fame Academy judge and legendary Bee Gee Robin Gibb has championed Alistair's songwriting talents.
The second half was devoted to up-tempo, self-penned numbers and a few crowd-pleasing covers.
However, the highlight of the gig was a rousing version of Alistair's top five hit, Bring It On.
It was great to see Alistair perform as part of a live band.
This would perhaps have been a better way to launch the show rather than the ballad Feeling Alive. However, where else on a rainy November evening in York could you find a performer supported by talent from the Manor Performing Arts School, a dancing bear chasing a nurse and a dance troupe?
This evening showcased Alistair's abilities as a singer/songwriter, musician and comedian.
There was something in the show to appeal to all and this proves that this Fame Academy graduate is destined for great things, hinted at with an airing of his new material.
Hopefully, 2005 will give Alistair Griffin the opportunity, in his own words, bring it on.
