I WAS sorry to read about the proposed small new Barbican pool. It is sad that the development of the Barbican Centre is motivated by profit.
There is a good chance with the new development to build a better pool and restore public confidence in sport. Sport throughout the city is declining and it seems if you want to participate you have to pay for it.
Why instead do we not get a positive strategy for sport and create a proper structure for backing clubs and public facilities?
Many people get pleasure from sport and feeling healthy. Sport leads to the indirect benefit of cutting down on illness and relieving pressure on the health service.
Let's do this and build something that the city can be proud of.
