Hambleton trainer Kevin Ryan, on the mark with handicap hurdler Petrula at Wetherby on Saturday, reverts to the Flat game at Lingfield tomorrow and has excellent prospects of adding to his tally of winners.

Ryan, who has enjoyed his best year, saddles Soyuz in the Faucets For Grohe Handicap (division two) and this recent acquisition looks set to make a bold bid.

Previously trained at Newmarket by Michael Jarvis, Soyuz was bought at last month's Newmarket Sales by Ryan, who promptly scored with him at the first time of asking on the final day of the turf season at Doncaster.

That success, just ten days ago, was achieved in runaway fashion under stable apprentice Andrew Mullen, who takes the mount again tomorrow.

Soyuz needs to prove himself as effective on Polytrack as he is on turf, but there is every chance that he can oblige again.

Noel Wilson, based at Warthill near York, is another of the county's trainers aiming to get on the Lingfield scoreboard.

Wilson sends Stallone to the Surrey course for the Faucets Amateur Riders' Handicap. This gelding would not need to improve much on his recent fifth-place effort behind Shape Up at Musselburgh to clinch the spoils. Nicki Wilson, the trainer's wife and an accomplished rider in these events, takes the mount.

In the Faucets Nursery Handicap, which has attracted a decent field, Jazrawy can take the prize under Nicky Mackay.

Luca Cumani's juvenile showed his appreciation for being stepped up to this distance of a mile at Wolverhampton last time when he beat Planet by two lengths into second place.

There is surely more improvement to come from this lightly-raced horse, who is marginally preferred to a host of other recent winners.

Former top Flat jockey Walter Swinburn, who has recently taken over the training reins from his father-in-law Peter Harris, can land his first winner. He has good chances with Grand Show (1.20) and Lottie Dundas (2.50). Both horses who have shown enough lately to suggest their turns are near.

Freak Occurrence, a Lingfield winner last week and at this corresponding meeting last year, is napped to capture the Faucets For Grohe Handicap (division one). Experienced apprentice Colin Haddon reduces the penalised runner's weight by a handy 5lb.

Over the sticks at Newton Abbot, Pure Platinum can be a welcome winner for Jonjo O'Neill in the Winning Post Restaurant Novices' Handicap Chase.

O'Neill's stable is pretty quiet by normal standards at the moment, but Pure Platinum was a determined winner at Chepstow last time and has excellent prospects of following-up under Tony McCoy.
