This show rocked the theatre last night and seeing the stage full to bursting with people, each and every one of them blown away by the atmosphere, was a real tonic.
Gary Wilmot isn't generally known for being a singer first and comedian second, but he has spent 15 years starring in West End musicals, and he has an amazing stage presence, not to mention a fantastic voice for belting out the favourite songs from the shows.
Oliver!, Me And My Girl, Pirates Of Penzance and Copacabana were all represented, with two or three songs from each, not forgetting the old singalongs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Joining Wilmot was the excellent ten-piece Mike Alexander Band, well stocked with a singing and dancing brass ensemble, along with six other excellent musicians.
But even they were cast into the shadows by the amazing ten members of the London Community Gospel Choir, who sang on the original Disney Lion King soundtrack and treated us to their powerful gospel songs.
