A STRONG last quarter showing saw Pocklington pull away to a 22-10 victory at determined Scarborough.
Pock have scored a hatful of line-out catch-and-drive tries this season, but they were given a taste of their own medicine in the third minute when the Scarborough pack rumbled over from a line-out for prop Jamie Drayton to touchdown.
Pock came back when man-of-the-match Sam Rees kicked on from half way then regathered to feed wing Tim Wilcock to score, Kevin Bowling kicking a good conversion into the wind.
But Scarborough regained the lead before the interval with a spell of pressure before lock Chris Hyde dummied over at the side of the post.
Pock had the edge n the second half, but had to wait until the hour mark to get their noses in front when flanker Scott Littlefair broke down the touchline and fed inside for scrum-half Rees to score. Bowling was off the field for repairs and the conversion was missed but he came back on to nudge Pock further ahead with a penalty.
Scarborough were pinned in their own territory and in the 80th minute they tried to run from deep only for Wilcock to make an interception and score under the posts, Bowling converting.
The victory puts Pocklington in third place in the Yorkshire 2 table, while Scarborough are at the bottom, although that looks a false position on their recent showings.
