THE clash of the top two premier division sides lived up to all expectations in a tight 2-1 thriller.

Mark Woodward opened the scoring in the first half before an own goal levelled the scores at the break.

Dringhouses missed a penalty with ten minutes remaining and Huntington collected all three points when a pinpoint cross from Ian Dunne was headed in by Chris Dyson.

Thorpe Utd hold on to third despite going down 2-0 at Malton Bacon Factory. Two second half goals from Simon Collins settled the game in Malton's favour.

Fourth-placed Wigginton Grasshoppers also failed to capitalise on Dringhouses' defeat as they went down 1-0 at T&L Selby. Chris Harkin's fifth goal of the season won the game.

Haxby Utd moved into fourth following their 4-1 win at Pocklington. Darren Harrison put Haxby in front before Paul Tatteron equalised but Richard Iggulend restored Haxby's lead and Harrison completed his hat-trick, with the help of a penalty.

Old Malton registered their first win in five as they beat Dunnington 3-1. Dean Readman put them in front but the visitors were soon level through Richard Dalby. A Dave Bradshaw penalty made it 2-1 and Chris Walton sealed the win late on.

A Chris Smith hat-trick put Bishopthorpe well in control at home to Copmanthorpe with further goals coming from Andrew Manns and Gregory Fitzmaurice before Kieran Darlow snatched a late consolation for Cop.

The top two teams in division one both won. Leaders St John's College inflicted Wilberfoss's first defeat of the season. Andrew Sherlock twice gave St John's the lead with Chris Lees hitting the third ten minutes from time.

John Heads and Shaun Hodgson netted for 'Foss.

Selby RSSC were unable to breach New Earswick's best defence in the division as they went down 2-0, Tom Robinson and Craig Simpson on target.

Post Office were leading 3-1 with goals from Chris Driscoll (2) and Paul Cooper against ten-man Panthers. But late strikes from Shaun Turner(2), James Hewitson (pen) and David Hyde snatched a 4-3 win and denied Post Office their first of the season.

Norwich Union were too good on the day for Easingwold winning 2-1 with goals from Roger Osbourne and Nick Henshaw, Andrew Metcalfe in reply.

Nestl Rowntree lost their first league game this season going down 3-2 at Stamford Bridge. Nick Rankin scored twice for the hosts before Steve Blake reduced the deficit. Paul Atkinson restored the home side's two-goal cushion before Matty White snatched a late reply.
