David Stockdale has had a week to remember after landing himself a top prize and a first international appearance.
Unlike team-mate Andy Bishop, Stockdale had to settle for a place on the bench for the National Game XI under-23 game against an Italian Serie 'C' select side in Italy on Wednesday.
But he did make an appearance after replacing Nikki Bull of Aldershot between the sticks for the last five minutes - and managed to keep a clean sheet to help England claim a 1-0 win.
Initial reports were that the 19-year-old had missed out on his chance to wear the Three Lions. But it later emerged that he had taken the field and played his part in a victory which gained revenge for a 4-1 defeat at home earlier in the year.
Stockdale had started the week by receiving his Preston & Duckworth/ Evening Press October player of the month award from fan Gordon Martin before the Forest Green Rovers match at Bootham Crescent on Saturday.
You can have your say in who wins the monthly awards - and get your hands on a reward yourself - by casting your man of the match votes after every game.
Every month, one lucky supporter is drawn out of the hat and they will present the winning player with their award and receive a Tissot watch from award sponsors Preston & Duckworth Jewellers of their own.
Simply send in your vote to the Sportsdesk, Evening Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York YO1 9YN to reach us in the week after each match or email dave.flett@ycp.co.uk including your name and daytime telephone number.
