LIKE Coun D'Agorne (Letters, November 6), I welcome Coun Aspden to the all-party campaign against the proposed Connaught Court Development, albeit late.
I too would encourage residents to write to the council planning department to voice their objections. However Councillor D'Agorne is incorrect when he says that this matter will be decided at the planning meeting on December 23. It is not, as yet, on the agenda for that meeting.
The planning officer advises me that it is unlikely to be placed on the agenda for that meeting.
Perhaps I should not be surprised that Councillor D'Agorne missed my name in his letter as one of the councillors to contact, or that that Coun Aspden has not made any attempt to contact me to discuss matters - after all I presented the 540 name petition to full council in September.
Any resident who would feel happier writing to me may do so c/o the Guildhall, York YO1 9QN. I will then ensure that they are kept up-to date.
Despite these omissions, I would still encourage my fellow councillors to work with me as a team to prevent this inappropriate development.
Labour councillor,
Sandringham Street, York.
