Pocklington Arts Centre and the European Blues Association are linking up for the annual Acoustic Blues Weekend of workshops, jams and performances later this month.
Running from November 26 to 28, the programme opens with Friday classes from 1pm to 5pm and an evening jam session from 8pm to midnight. Saturday classes from 10am to 5pm are followed by a staff concert and late-night jam in the theatre. Sunday classes are from 10am to 4pm.
The workshops cater for all levels, and participants are recommended to bring a portable tape player to record their classes. The tutors will be Johnny Mars, from South Carolina, teaching harmonica; British musician Michael Messer, bottleneck slide guitar; and Michael Roach, from Washington DC, country blues guitar.
The registration fee is £90, concessions £80 for the weekend; the single day rate for Saturday is £55, concessions £50; Sunday, £50, concessions £45. Advance booking is required on 01759 301547 and all fees are payable to the Pocklington Arts Centre.
