Marcia blasted their way clear at the top of the John Smith Sunday Morning Football League first division with a 10-2 mauling of Blacksmiths Arms who are struggling to find their feet in the top sector.
Mark Ford was the main contributor as he fired in a hat-trick. Former York City striker Glenn Naylor and Joe Gardham each added a brace of goals, while O'Brien, Barlow and Allison all bagged one apiece. Newton and Cooper replied for Blacksmiths.
Ainsty Panthers had little trouble in overcoming bottom side Pocklington. Mark Willoughby led the way with a treble with Shaun Turner, Paul Barron and Simon Kehoe adding the other goals.
Neil Ducey struck twice as Severus SC finally found some of the form that has eluded them thus far when defeating Selby Olympia WMC 7-1.
Garner swooped to put Thorpe Utd in front right on half-time against the run of play at Wigginton Grasshoppers. It wasn't long before the home side were level though, through Luke Roberts. Wigginton then struck the woodwork twice before Watson put the visitors in front with ten minutes remaining. Back came the home side and Paul Dix equalised once more with a far post header.
Thorpe were not going to be denied, however, and a stunning 25-yard strike from Tweedie ensured all three points.
Shipton's position at the top of division two strengthened without them kicking a ball as both the chasing clubs lost.
Acomb WMC travelled to Nestl Flag and despite a brace apiece for Wayne Carter and Mike Cooper went down 5-4.
Eddie Phillips bagged a brace and Stu Phillips got one for Edward VII but they went down by a single goal as Hinde (2), Wray and Bootland late in the game gave Acomb SC a 4-3 win.
