THRIVING rugby league team New Earswick All Blacks Under-13s have got off to a flying start to the season.
They have recruited a bumper squad of 21 players who train on Tuesday and Fridays with matches at weekends, and they have a new coach, Nick Richardson, at the helm.
Their latest victory came when they defeated Seigan Saints 18-0 with tries by Dan Perkins, Adam Smith and Josh Cunningham-Evans, with Craig Richardson, Perkins and Cunningham-Evans converting.
Man of the match was Adam Smith. The best tackler award went to Nathan Tupman and the most improved to Daniel Hindmarch.
The U13s have a new kit supplied by H Watson & Sons Builders and Geoff Acomb & Sons plus additional donations.
A dominant first half display paved the way for New Earswick's Under 15 to beat Staningley Rangers 42-6.
The performance was typified by the strong running and tackling of forwards Gareth Swanson, Ian Henderson and centre Elliot Bridges. Tries came from Brian Wright (4), Pat Smith (2), Andrew Jackson and Daniel Atkinson, with Jack Sinclair adding five conversions.
Selby Warriors U12s came close to their first away win of the season when they drew 20-20 at Whinmoor.
Warriors' tries came from Adam Chappell (3) and Josh Skilbeck, who was the coach's choice as man of the match.
