York City Supporters' Trust, the body that owns and controls the football club, has made a brief statement following Chris Brass' sacking as manager.
Trust Chairman Richard Snowball said: "So far this season, the team's results have been a disappointment to everyone involved with York City and it has been a difficult and frustrating time.
"The Trust would like to express its thanks to Chris Brass for his hard work and commitment during his time as player-manager."
Snowball added: "It is also rather frustrating that the team's on-the-pitch results can overshadow the achievements to regain Bootham Crescent, financial survival and other off-the-pitch improvements.
"York City's supporters have endured exceptional challenges over recent years.
"Circumstances will continue to be difficult, but with unity, hard work and commitment, a better York City can be built."
