Heworth ARLC 'A' team hit back to beat visitors Castleford Panthers 'A' 14-12 in CMS Yorkshire League division three.

Panthers led 12-0 after 28 minutes from two converted tries before Heworth winger Eddie Phillips intercepted in his own half to race 80 metres for a try goaled by Paul Gill.

Trailing 6-12 at the break, Heworth reduced the arrears again when Nathan Witty cut through the defence with a neat dummy to score in the corner.

Defences dominated for long periods but on the hour Gill crashed through for the winning try as his side retained their unbeaten home record this season and climb to third in the table.

Dave Varley, Gareth Kirby, Sean Brough and Phil Marwood stood out in another good team performance.

Josh Peacock scored a hat-trick as York Acorn under-13s beat Scarborough Pirates 42-8. Acorn's other try scorers were man of the match Stuart Leeke, James Mountford, Mike Kellet, Jordan Hyde and Tyler Dawson, with Antony Chilton converting five.

Unbeaten New Earswick All Blacks U12s beat title rivals Doncaster 42-6. Try scorers were Joel Johnson (2), Liam Dawson (2), man of the match Louis Pool, Joe Davison, Adam Johnson and Connor Thirlway, with Dean Layton adding five conversions. Adam Johnson had to leave the field with a rib injury.

Heworth U10s maintained their excellent start to the season with a hard-fought win at Headingley.

Two tries from Flannan Naismith and a Liam Jackson goal coupled with solid defence, especially from Spencer Mitchell and Alex Clough, helped Heworth lead 10-0 at half-time.

Headingley went 14-10 ahead, but man of match Billy Legg levelled the scores late on and Harry Deighton kicked the winning points.
