BAGBY and Balk took advantage of their rivals being in FA Cup competition action by beating Carlton United to move into third place in the RJF Homes Beckett Football League.

Darren Bell fired Bagby and Balk ahead but former B and B player Tom Kendall soon equalised.

Rob Metcalfe restored B and B's lead and they forged ahead with Metcalfe and Paul Smith (2) adding further goals before Dan Varley's consolation for United.

Coxwold won their second game of the season - 3-2 at Gillamoor, whose Andrew Breckons suffered a serious injury in the second half.

Andrew Bayes headed Gillamoor in front in the first minute but after Breckons' injury, Tom Banks, debutant Paul Rhodes and Adrian Leckenby (penalty) turned the game on its head before Karl Richardson pulled a goal back.

Union Rovers Seconds and Ampleforth fought out a rare 0-0 draw in division two.

St Clement's WMC twice fought back to draw 2-2 at home to Norton United Reserves, who led with goals from Roy Heselewood and Sam Meegan. John Dale and John Alcock netted the replies for St Clement's.

Despite goals by Bobby Brewer and Rob McDarmidd, Kirkbymoorside Reserves went down 4-1 at home to Redcar MP after extra time in the North Riding CFA Saturday Challenge Cup.
