I AM somewhat confused by AP Cox's suggestions that the ticket machines in Castle Car Park are not working correctly (Letters, November 20.
All four ticket machines were tested on November 3 and were found to be in full working order. The only recorded fault on any of the machines in October was on Wednesday October 20 when one of the machines would not accept coins. The problem was corrected on the same day.
As directed on the parking machines, residents need to press the yellow button to receive the reduced rate. If the amount entered into the machine is not recognised as a resident's tariff or if the yellow button is not pressed, all the coins are rejected.
Perhaps this is what happened to your reader. If anyone believes that a parking machine is not working correctly they should notify the council on 01904 551309.
