Mark Woodward saw Leeper Hare York and District Football League premier division leaders Dringhouses open a six-point gap at the top with the winner against Old Malton.

John Lake put 'Houses ahead on the half hour and shortly afterwards the Malton goalkeeper was carried off and replaced by centre-back Paul Scaling.

Despite this handicap, Malton drew level before the break when the home 'keeper spilled the ball and Heath Brown pounced to tap in an easy equaliser. However, Woodward, with his tenth goal of the season, scored the winner on 72 minutes.

Second-placed Huntington, who entertain Dringhouses next week, extended their unbeaten run to six games after drawing at Wigginton Grasshoppers.

After a goalless first half, Ben Coates put Wigginton in front but Huntington equalised as Craig McDonald's cross was brilliantly headed home by Iain Dunn.

Haxby notched a double over Kartiers this season with a 4-1 win. Andy Woodhall put the Selby side in front but an own goal tied the scores before the break and Haxby controlled the second half with goals from Mark Scoreby, his sixth of the season, Scott Barley and Ian Ferguson.

Bishopthorpe's lack of league success away from home continued as they lost 3-0 at Thorpe. Andrew Moore netted in the first half with Danny Crowther and Dean Woods scoring in the second. Dunnington drew 2-2 at home to T& L Selby.

The two sides relegated from the premier division last season met in division one where Nestl Rowntree won 5-3 at Rufforth.

Phil Jones and Chris Carrick gave the hosts an early advantage but a brace from Andy Kennedy levelled the scores before the interval. In the second half, Jim Clamp's double - supplemented with a strike from Mick McKenzie - put the game out of Rufforth's reach, despite Luke Eiles' consolation goal.

York St John's College completed the double over Post Office with a 3-1 win which pushed them three points clear at the top.

Rich Holden put the students in front and, although Chris Driscoll equalised, Chris Lees restored their lead and Greg Key added a third late on.
