A BIG thank you to all the volunteers, old and new, who took part in the "make a difference day" event at York Cemetery on Saturday, October 30.
We cleared and planted up a border, replacing jaded plants and bindweed with grasses purchased with York Community Pride funding. Volunteers also took some of the cemetery's trees in hand, pruning then to ensure strong growth.
Your help was not only much appreciated, but vital. The cemetery's five gardens were planted ten years ago by volunteers - now help is needed to revive and maintain them.
Regular volunteers and the cemetery warden were so pleased to see new faces and to meet volunteers from the neighbourhood gardener scheme, who started work on the scented walk.
Here's to making a difference throughout the year - we hope to see you again soon.
