Stephen Lewis was quite controversial in his column, "How dumb can they be?"(November 3).
Some of it one could certainly agree with. Americans do seem to be blinkered in their views and easily swayed by rhetoric and promises of a better America and so forth.
However, I'm not so sure that they can be called uneducated on the premise that they don't swallow hook line and sinker the theories of Darwin for example. His theory of evolution is taught in schools as if it were proven fact, which it isn't. It might in fact be more intelligent to question what we are taught.
Perhaps Stephen could take that on board and do some research into the subject and so come to an independent judgement which would be a step beyond mere 'education'.
