FOR her tenth studio recording, kd lang pays homage to fellow singer-songwriters from Canada.
She takes her favourite songs by Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Jane Siberry, Ron Sexsmith and Bruce Cockburn and re-delivers them with spine-tingling reverence.
So effortless and emotional is her accomplishment that the result, in the main, is to make these songs seem her own. That's no small feat considering the greatness of the anthems she tackles: Young's After The Gold Rush and Helpless; Mitchell's A Case Of You and Jericho and Siberry's Love Is Everything and The Valley.
This is an epic eulogy to some beautiful songs. Take a pew.
